Mike Lightner of Bridges® by Epoch at Sudbury, a premier provider of exceptional memory care, has found a way to make a “pawsitive” impact on the local community by donating old newspapers to Save a Dog, a Massachusetts- based humane society focused on abandoned dogs.
Lightner, who has been a resident at Bridges® by Epoch at Sudbury for about a year, likes to read the newspaper every morning, and wanted to find a way to recycle his old papers after he was done reading them. A few months ago, he asked Life Enrichment Director Kristin Johnson about recycling, and that was when Johnson had a lightbulb moment. She thought of the local dog shelter, Save a Dog, right near Bridges® by Epoch at Sudbury and reached out to the shelter to see if they would have any need for these recycled newspapers. The staff at Save a Dog told Johnson they were in desperate need of more newspapers to use for things like puppy potty training, bedding, and cleanup for all the dogs in the shelter.
